In the 2008 season the TGC had 86 competitors across 8 clubs. There was one competition session and one level in each discipline at our meets.
As of 2025, we surpassed the multi hundred mark for the first time with 209 competitors, across 14 clubs! We have 4 women's
and 3 men's levels, competing at competitions that have multiple sessions that sometimes span over a couple days.
But as we have grown in numbers, so has our organization. Today, the TGC operates as a 501c3 nonprofit. Operating with
the dedication of volunteers we provide our members with a fully integrated registration, payment and scoring system,
assistance with their competitions, and an annual weekend clinic to help them navigate both competition rules and
administration of their clubs.
But that growth introduces new challenges. Finding facilities with men's equipment, on weekends that the
gym is available and judges are available (amidst a shortage of both men's and women's judges) are some of the factors we have to juggle.
Not to mention the general effects of inflation.
Most recently as meet scheduling has become more difficult we have also stepped in to help with the financial challenges
of hosting competition opportunities. In a word, while not our first preference, the proper financing can include flying
in judges from afar or having the funds to rent out better meet venues.
That is where you can help! With our new nonprofit status, we have begun exploring additional sources of funding, including the
timeless method of donation campaigns. By making a tax-deductible donation, you can help keep our competitions affordable and provide
more opportunities for our members to practice the sport we all love!
We appreciate everyone who can contribute in an amount meaningful to them. Fundraising
with an all volunteer organization isn't easy. It takes time to reach out and connect with donors and our alumni, but you
can help. Our goal is to get 100 donors contributing $5 a month. Why? In short, it's an easy sell. It's less than the
price of a sandwich or a fancy coffee, and much more palatable than asking for $60 a year. Plus, a recurring contribution
lessens the volunteer workload of having to ask over and over again. If we can reach this goal, it would enable us to support
each of our meets with an average of about $1000.
